Professional Medical Services (PMS) opened for business on July 1, 1991 with one
dream in mind, provide the highest quality third party small balance outsourcing
services to Healthcare Providers for a cost comparable to self management. Over
the past fifteen years of service to clients that dream has become reality. PMS
has achieved a reputation throughout the Healthcare Community for being one of if
not the best, small balance third party outsourcing entities in the country.
PMS is a Texas Corporation based in Fort Worth and currently providing third party
outsourcing services to forty (40) plus Hospitals and Health Systems throughout
the United States. PMS effectively manages over 400,000 third party insurance accounts
for our clients every month. PMS has chosen not to be distracted with other forms
of outsourcing services and has chosen to make third party outsourcing its sole
focus in services provided to the Healthcare Community.
The primary aspect in which PMS’ services are engaged is in effectively managing
the ever growing number of outpatient third party claim volumes while the Health
System’s staff focuses on and resolves the large balance accounts. Each outsourcing
program established by PMS is done so with teamwork in mind; two entities PMS and
the Health System’s staff working toward several common goals:
· An increase in Health System generated cash flow.
· A decrease in the Accounts Receivable Days outstanding.
· An improved patient/provider relationship due to the timely working and resolving
of all claims.
· A decrease in the dollars released to Bad Debt due to the fact that no insurance
dollars are released.
· A reduction in the percent of accounts receivable over ninety (90) days of age
due to the prompt and continuous attention given to every claim.
The reason for PMS’ success has been due in large to our automation and seamless
outsourcing process. PMS does not maintain a stand-alone system, instead we are
provided access through a frame/VPN connection to our client’s Health Information
System and work claims on-line. This type of processing allows our clients to get
real time information updates into their Health Information System and allows our
clients to have easy vendor account audit reviews. PMS is online with various applications
such as Meditech, SMS, IDX, HBOC Star, HBOC Medipac, Dairyland and others.
PMS is able to provide each client with cutting edge weekly and monthly reporting
generated from our self developed ARCC system. These period ending reports provide
each client with a clear picture of how their accounts were managed over the past
week and/or month.
